Hello everybody this is my first post hope you can help
Question 1 I have a site in England, would the site benefit from incoming links from a same language country ie USA?

Question 2 Do outgoing links to high quality highly relevant sites help ranking?
These probably sound very basic to you all but would help me a lot to know answers
Thanks

Pay attention! There are no evidences that show that making outgoing links to high quality/relevant sites helps the ranking!
But Surely helps the "linked" web sites...

Umm ... sorry this statement isn't true in my neck of the woods. If you have a disproportionally overwhelming amount of one way inbounds (authority website) it's not as important (amazon.com for example). Otherwise you are trying to prove your relevancy by having inbounds on your topic and outbounds for it as well (a hub website).

If you aren't playing in a competitive market, or there is no clearly defined authority website in your area this is a non issue.

Beat me too it Graywolf ..

If "outbounds" counted for nothing .."directory sites" that aren't running adsense wouldn't exist ..

Better to be a "hub" than a "spoke"..

Easier to set up quick ..( with adsense )

And later you can use it to send your own spoke really nice links ;)

BTW welcome to WebmasterWorld

I'm totally agree. But I considered a generic (not hub)web site. From the other hand nothing says to us that Burcot want to build a "hub" site.

Both of your sides has good points and in a way you both are correct.

As far as i can tell - out bound links to authority websites dont increase all your ranks but more help the search engines find out what your page is about thus helping the search engine place your website for specific searches.

Well thats my take, does anyone have anything to add to this or disagree with my understanding?

I have websites that link to me, where the text occurs only in the anchor text to me, that rank above me for my keywords.

Well Thats right seen that a few times and does prove your point, do they sites have lots of information about the anchor text or have more backlinks with anchor text alike?

I'd attribute it to them having a higher authority score than my website.
