Hi everyone,

I am working on building out link directory. I have been looking around because I had a few questions regarding my directory. I have been reading that it is not good to link to sites with low PR or sites that don't relate to your website. Well I have tons of these links. I know they may not be the best but I am just starting out and my opinion is these are better than nothing. Am i right to think this?

I was also curious about setting up a robots.txt file to not search that directory. I guess that doesn't really sound fair to the sites I do reciprocal linking with but what are your opinions on that? If a SE would look at my links and say "hey they have a low PR and have nothign to do with the site penalize this site for linking to them", should I just make it so the SE doesn't search that link section?

Does this make sense? If so, what do you think about it?

Don't worry about linking to low PR websites. I still link out to PR0 sites if I think they have potential. I like to keep my links related but unrelated links seem to work okay too.

As for the robots.txt your link pages won't gain any PR or won't be cached by the search engines. If the link page cannot be seen by the search engines I will not link to the site.

Yeah I could understand how people wouldnt want to link to that page. If it doesn't matter what the PR is then theres not point in blocking it. Also, if it gets indexed users can come and automatically add their link.
