Hi,

What do you think about exchanging links with a site that google has not picked up yet? If the site is sort of related to what you do , and the site looks professional, would you exchange links with them? They're already put on my link. what do you reommend is best?

If you honestly believe that the new website has potentials and is relevant for your own visitors I see no problems doing it. And sometimes it pays to not be calculating!

Is there info likely to be of interest to the visitors at your site?

When I can answer that Q yes, I don't worry much about the rest of it.

I agree with the others. If your site is spidered, then adding a link to them will help their site get spidered as well. If it is relevant to your site, go for it.

What does the link page look like? Directory style? A lot of these requests I receive are from garbage sites.

Do evaluate the content.

The link page looks long, that's the other thing, I felt my link would get lost in the mix and that the new site would get higher page ranking from me, and really not a good return for me, what do you think?

I evaluate the content of the pages, as well as the look and feel, to see if this is a genuine website that someone cares about, or is one of ten that were slapped together that day. If it's minimal or low quality content or dupe content taken from an affiliate site, it's a thumbs down.

The links page should also be examined. Sorry if this blows someone's day, but it needs to said:

If the links page is a long page full of other websites, then that's a low quality recip, in my opinion. If you have a low quality recip page then go ahead, it's a one to one trade, but I've never received any kind of traffic from a page like that.

What's worse is if the links page is numbered (which means that there's likely some automation going on), and that there are hundreds more of these links pages. On these kinds of pages, some webmasters (not all) will then unlink their links pages from the rest of the site and count on a certain percentage of webmasters to not notice.
