I have read all over the place that it is recommended to vary your inbound anchor text.

You will always notice that keyword rich domains i.e. widgets.com will (most of the time) rank #1 for the keyword widgets.

This is due to the natural link progression, everyone linking href widgets to: www.widgets.com. Pretty much how google intended it to work.

Surely if you own widgets.com, and you are getting 1 way links in you can use the anchor text widgets?

If you own abc.com and all of your anchor text was widgets, this would definitely look artificial. But not if you own widgets.com.

Feedback is appreciated :)

If you want people to link to you a certain way give them the HTML or other information telling them so. It doesn't work 100% of the time, but is more effective than not.
