Link partner linking from different pages to me

Heavy linking, useful or dangerous

Trhough my link exchange form I received 10 proposals of same site. He already put a link to my site (to my homepage) from different pages of his site.
He wants a link back to his homepage, but I'm afraid that heavy linking be dangerous to us...

What do you think?

Yes, I ran into a problem with heavy linking. I have a friend with a real estate site who asked me to add lots of links to various property pages on his site.

Google didn't like it. Google completely dropped his site from the SERPS and dropped my real estate index Page Rank from 5 to 0.

I removed the links to his site. One month later, Google reinstated my Page Rank. Three months later, Google added my friend's site back to the SERPS.

I believe that having many links from one site to another can have a negative effect for both parties.

If your 100% legit, your sites ranking will not go down because 1 site linked heavily to you. If you do there is more going on than either you realize or are letting on..
