I am looking into outsourcing link building for some sites I have. The question has come up of giving the person thier own email address.

I can see advantages an disadvantages going both ways. Anyone have any experiences they can share?

I would say definitely give a personal email so that the person on the other end knows the request is coming from your company and that a real human being is on the other end.

absolutely

however please advise them not to do the following:

send an email to google support, asking why the pr on their toolbar is NOT showing, (and the originating email was the 1 I had given them)

It is advisable to have a copy of all incoming emails left on the server and have these available for your monitoring purposes. Also all outgoing should be bcc: to the address as well.

Since they are an outsourced agent for your company you as the company are ultimately responsible for their conduct.

This requirement should be known to the agent - whether you actually monitor or not, the knowledge of 'quality control' keep them from stepping outside the boundaries of representation on your dime.

Very Nice Idea :) That way you can monitor who has the best conversion rate, and why..

We never give out our domain address straight away because of some over zealous person doing a spam report. So I would say it better to use their address than the domain you are getting links to, as there is also the abuse element possible on their side.

We also use IMAP mail accounts so we can track progress of incoming mails. We also got good stats from the links guys. Mind you we do all this in a big way so I do not know if it is worth it if you have a site or 2 to get into the SEPS.
