In another thread someone referred to a link hunter as a link monkey.
Excuse me, but what is a linkmonkey? A person who does the link management for you? A "linkmonkey?"

A person, who does the link management for you, would be the correct interpretation. Although the term 'monkey' implies inferiority.... less than human.

Hey now, who says a monkey is less than human? I've seen a passle of monkeys and I've seen a fair share of humankind. I'm not atall prepared to make such a rash assertion :)

A link monkey is a link hunter. The task is very repetitive, very simple (should be) and does not require massive brain power, therefore not intended for rocket scientist.
Monkeys are known to have diminished brain power/capacity, that’s how it all fits in.

I think they have the brain power they're supposed to have, just less than humans, mostly. :)

It is said that man is descended from the monkey. Having dealt with 1,000's of webmasters over the last year, I am not at all convinced that the evolution is yet complete.

I believe DaveN coined that phrase in April 2004: [webmasterworld.com...] Message #3
I couldn't find an earlier reference to it anywhere else.

Not to take anything from DaveN but Linkmonkey, isn't that just just following the old trend of somethingmonkey such as webmonkey, codemonkey etc? :O)

So would ultra-aggressive link-requesters who only link to identical sites be considered linknazis? (Oh, did I say that out loud? :-)
