Hi,

I would be really grateful if someone could give me a view on this (ideally based on experience).

We have a site that has a lot of unique statistics which are really useful to users. We want to syndicate this content to other sites using a line of javascript embedded within the partner sites page. This will call the data table and also a link back to our site (stats provided by widgets.com). The reason we choose javascript is so that partner sites cannot then remove or change our link if they want to show the content.

My question is whether or not Google (and other SE's) will read this properly and give us the backlink credit or just see it as a line of javascript and ignore it?

Hopefully this makes sense.

Thanks

As far as I have experienced, Google or any other Search Engine doesn't read javascript files.

However you can solve your purpose by using a included file say include.php or .asp which can be called from your server. But make sure that the include file is not hosted at SECURE server (https://)
