I am looking for a type of link management solution that doesn't seem to have been mentioned previously - I have done the searches and the googling and it's time to ask the real world instead.

What we are looking for resembles in large part a standard link management scripting - we'd like the ability for others to submit links and to check for recip. links before approving links and updating pages on our side. The part that isn't so standard is that we would like a server-side solution that can handle a number of different websites on different machines, instead of only one site on one server. Imagine a solution like Reciprocal Manager or such but with 'profiles', as it were.

Anybody aware of such a thing?

I too am in this position. We have been using a program called Linksmanager.com but I have lost my faith in them a little. I discovered a program called LinkAutomate.com, but I am having some difficulty with setup. So, a buddy recommended a proggie called Link Explorer, but I have yet to find it anywhere in the SERP's for "link exchange" and the like. If you hear anymore, I'd like to know. Thanks.
