I must have been day dreaming working on a new site only about 100 pages but I have a link fromeach page pointing back to home page and instead of using a nice anchor text link ..I just used index.htm . so I have 100 pages with a link pointing "index.htm" .

I really need to change that to strong anchor text link ...or do i? (for ranking purposes)

1: It's best to keep all your links throughout a site the same. Make sure they're all pointing to foo.com/ or foo.com/index.htm. It's generally preferred to link to foo.com/ because extensions sometimes change (like to .php) or else to match what inbound links are pointing to. A stitch in time saves nine.

2: It's generally preferred to put anchor text in there.
