I've always found it much more difficult to get people to link to internal pages, but I'm hoping you might offer some tips of ways you have successfully coerced/convinced people to link to internal pages of your site.

I've found it relatively easily possible if the inside page is an indispensible and specifically themed content resource.

only ask for links to internal pages and 25% to 30% of sites will only be able to or will only be willing to your home page. So, say okay.

give them the HTML code or other info straight to your internal page. Most everybody is lazy and will just use what you give them. Sure some people will change it back to the homepage, and thats a good thing. Why? It helps you get the second indented listing in the organic SERP's.
