Refusing linking script?

Link was refused because it is a cgi link

Is there any proof that having automated links programs where the pages are dynmically created (
i.e. end in?page etc.) are not woth anything.

Somone emailed me and asked me to remove a link
because my linking system is automated.

How can I manage all these links on hand
edited html static pages?

Any ideas?

Have you considered using mod_rewrite (on Apache) or ISAPI Rewrite (on IIS) to make the pages appear to be static?

experience with this. Is this necessary?

I am on a windows server. What would I use for this?
Isn't apache linux/unix based?

Several of the 3rd party programs can set up static html pages and links instead of cgi or php.

I would guess that the feedback you are getting is a result of some pages in cgi based directories having been jacked. I'll sticky you an example.

Does this script generate pages with the link actually in the page e.g.

www.OtherDomain.com

or does it generate a link that then passes through another page on your site e.g.

www.MySite.com/LinkForward.cgi?id=123

If it's the latter I suspect that's what the complaint was about.

I've removed a few links from my site when I've found partner sites using this method. It's a "send me PR while I avoid sending you any" scenario, not really very reciprocal.
