Hi,

I have the chance to optimize a website in exchange i get a link at the bottom of each page to my website.

Both Websites are on the same topic, but his website has a low page rank (3 on most pages) the site has 10 pages or so.

Would this be worth my while? Im thinking it might because they are related. I would like to hear other peoples thoughts!

It helps, it will not hurt you so take the offer. On my site I see how just a few links helps people. If the linking page has a pr of even 2 it is better to have that link to your site than not. I would even go as far as to say that all links help, granted in a much smaller way than high pr sites, but they do help.

How much time will it take to optimize the site? What will constitute it being "optimized"?

Is it worth your time for the 10 or so links? If it could take quite a bit of tweaking, maybe you could charge some and take the links as partial payment.

What control of the links do you have after it is optimized?

Food for thought. But links to your site don't hurt.

No. How much is one link from his site worth? Maybe $5 to $20. How much are 10 links worth, one from each page? Maybe $7 to $100.

How much time would it take to optimize his 10 pages, including title, metas, alts, H1s, content, etc? Easily $100 to $500, depending on how much research you do.

I would refer him to WebmasterWorld and take a link from each page just for the reference. That would be fair.

hmmm, thanks...

I think im just going to fix his meta tags... list him in some directorys fix some text and then put my link at the bottom of his pages...

Im thinking of something like:

Website optimized by www. He is going to show me some of his other friends (paying) and I guess it could get me some business as well as links...

He seems like a nice dude, im thinking it will take 1 hour for the whole thing. I will tell him about WebmasterWorld after i get the links etc...

what you think

Ok, I'll bite. So, you're going to do a bit of on page and maybe five directory listings - which won't help his site in the long run - and in turn, he may end up thinking you did a bad job. I'd say it would be better to charge him and do it right than do it 1/3 of the way as a favor and hope he recommends you for future business. Just my two cents though.

which won't help his site in the long run

I dont think his site could do any worse, yet it is still listed in google with an 'ok' keyword,

I got him to let me see his stats and worked out i can increase his hits by around 500% (wont be hard)

and im it will take me 15 minutes to give a quick make over so im sure he will enjoy :)

- I start tonight when my computer gets fixed...
I know of a load of on topic places he can get listed that will take 10 minutes to submit to them all, ok so this might take 1hour and a bit :p
