Managing Links

I find myself spending a lot of time (or more recently, delegating the job) pulling referring pages out of server logs, then querying search engines to see if they have indexed the link. If they haven't, I submit it.

I'm not as organized about this as I would wish. I try to maintain a log of links for each client site I am managing, adding URLs to it or deleting them as things evolve, but somehow this maintenance keeps getting away from me.

Is there a utility or combination of utilities that can make this easier? It seems like a simple enough task to describe, but...

The worst part is comparing the link serps to the list I get from the server logs.

That would ba a nifty utility. I am trying to think about the simplest way this could be done. Do you use an online submitter? If so, probably the simplest approach would be to have a script that logs all your referrers onto a flat text file. Then have another script take all the referrers from that file and make an lwp request to the auto-submittion script. You could have that task cron'ed.

That would be a quick and dirty approach.
