how many links per page?

On a given links page, I have heard that it is better to have not more than 50, is that correct?

The goal is to keep the size of the page less than 100K. That’s why G suggests sticking to no more than 100 links.

I have a site with over 250 links going from the front page.

The total page size is less than 25k

Everything got spidered OK - site is ranking for all the phrases I went for.

Speaking of link pages - the more links you have, the less likely professional webmasters will do exchanges with you, as the outbound value of a link goes down the more of them there are on a page. Whether that is a bad thing or a good thing is up to you to decide ;-).

Wow, that's great...

FWIW, its a large content site with approx 250 sections, all linked from the front page. Each section has its own series of index pages in the classic theme pyramid.

Everything got spidered OK, everything ranking OK.
