This has probably been answered somewhere else, but so far, I can't find it. So, please accept my appology.

What is the word about link exchange services on the web. Will signing up to one of these sites that allows you to speak with other webmasters about link exchanges work wonders for me? OR.. damnage my SEO / or become a pain in the butt for my email inbox?

Thanks for your advice!

I think most people around here prefer to roll their own. There are services for just about anything related to link development, and it basically boils down to how much control you are willing to cede.

There are:

  • link hunters
  • link sellers
  • link hunting software

I think most people will agree that link matchmakers are limited by the quality of their link members. Additionally, you don't want to get stuck in a closed link network.

Let's face it, if these potential members don't have the ability to create a viable link pop network, and have to turn to a matchmaker to make it happen, then there are going to be quality issues in addition the one's surrounding how the matchmaker defines quality.
