What's an expired domain with 10,000 backlinks worth?

Any value in it?

Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering if there's any value and/or what could be done with an expired domain name that has 10,000 backlinks. The topic of the sites linking and the former topic of the site was fairly technical and specific.

I thought Google elimanated the value of expired domains.

That's what the latest word around is ogletree, but there are still people around brokering them.

What if the domain name starts being used again? Wouldn't all those backlinks still count for something?

10,000 links should get traffic with or without the search engines.

That is what I have heard since as far back as the Boston PubCon, but it may be worth purchasing for the right price. There are other engines out there, and they could still allow the backlinks to prevail through a new ownership.

Just a thought.
