A matter of patience?

I am carring out a linking campaign to raise the almost non-existent PR of
one site of mine. I got over 30 good quality inbound links (PR4-6), but only
15 are recognized and my PR is just 1, since a month or so.

Might the PR jump from 0 to 4 or so straigh away or it goes slower?

How often the PR is updated?

Yes, a lot of patience, and a lot of tedious work. But it's worth it.

PR is updated approx. once a month.

Men, and it seems that the PR updating day 24th of each month! Just couldn't believe my eyes this morning when I realized that PR jumped from 1 to 5 in one site... and from 0 to 5 in the other! All overnight!

But still my rankings are very poor, even considering that my pages are pretty optimized for my keywords, and competence is fair.

Might my rankings eventually improve by themselves?
