Hi Sally_Brown,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld. In simple terms, an inbound link is when someone links to your website from theirs.

You create an outbound link when you link from your website to someone else's.

Now, you can also apply this inbound/outbound principle on a per-page basis. So, every web page has inbound links (some from the same website, and others from external websites) and outbound links (links to other pages.)

Inbound and outbound links form the "web" of the www, and it's how users and search engine spiders find webpages. The more integrated your webpage is with the web, the easier it will be to find.

The trick is to acquire inbound links that fit with your page's content, and not just any old link. Some links are better than others.

There's a lot more to say, but that should help you as you begin to explore these forums.
