Hi everyone, im new here, although ive been lurking a while. I own / run an ecommerce store thats been selling dance music / hardware online for 5 years.

I never previously realized outbound links can effect your page rank, so i was considering on my hardware product detail pages linking to the manufacturers web site. These would be big sites like sony.com, pioneer.com technics.com etc, all should have high page ranks. Should doing this help my page rank?

Also i swap links with our customers DJ homepages, which means i have a links page full of very low PR links. It also means i have a few hundred low PR sites linking to me. How will this effect my main pages PR.

Thanks in advance.

linking to the manufacturers site won't help your PR as the link won't be reciprocated, but if you could get sonny to link back that would help ,although I don't think you will have much of a chance of that

theres nothing wrong with getting lots of low PR sites linking to you, in fact when you think about it, it does spread the risk of losing PR by getting lots of links just in case a site losses PR or removes the link
