Linking to deep content with keyword and from high PR

How to avoid it ranking higher than service pages?

Hi guys and gals. I've got a dilemma. We've got site www.example.com which is commercial in nature. We're about to publish an article/study on a certain topic which hasn't been discussed before and is likely to attract the attention of many authority sites with high PR. These sites are all informational in nature and are quite selective about what they link to (but we're pretty confident we can make the cut).

Now, the article has "keyword" in its title (that's what the piece is about). The obvious outcome is that all those sites will link from high PR pages with "keyword" in the title (among other words).

Oh joy, I hear you say. The only problem is that this will cause the article to rank for that keyword, and not the page where a service with the same name is presented. Our manager is very strict about when crossing information with marketing/sales talk so we can't mix the two.

I know it's natural to link to deep content, and that is what should happen. But what can we do to persuade people to link to the index page as well, and with our keywords in the link text based on that unique content?

Link exchange and personalized link back isn't appropriate for these informational sites which are so selective.

Any suggestion is highly appreciated.

I would promote this study heavily at the home page for couple of weeks as "Featured study or article" and ask those authority sites to link to index page. Hopefully you will get many of them directly linked to you home page.
