Main referrer blocking links

Hi all, this is my first thread on webmaster world, so please go easy.

I run a small none profit site aimed at students, as I have no money to buy ads I get my hits mainly through Google and one popular student forum, where a link to my site is displayed in the signature of all my posts.

The forum owner has recently updated his code so that any links on the forum now redirect back to the main page on the forum, rather than to my site. Initially I thought this was some kind of bug but after a bit of experimenting I’ve found this redirect only occurs to the two domains I own and no others.

I have contacted the site admin - who is normally quite friendly - but have had no reply yet. Does anyone have any advice on what I could do about this?

Start working other forums and link building strategies in general.

Don't leave all your eggs in one basket.

I am trying to do this though the forum I mention is definatly the biggest in the UK with a lot more traffic than it's nearest competitor. I have done a few link exchanges though only small sites seem interested.
