backward links update: google slashes backward links

The backward links of my website has gone down massively. In the last week of december, google showed 500+ backward links, but now it has come down to 410 only. does anyone find the same observation? pls help

This is not new. Five months ago or so my most important site showed around 800 backlinks on Google, now it's down to around 100 - the links are still there, alltheweb.com shows them.
Afaik, nobody has been able to explain why this is so, apart from the observation that Google seems to display only linking pages with a toolbar PR of 4 or above.

In the last update, I also noticed several backlinks missing for my sites.
