My site travel related drop from Pr 5 to 4. what i have changed is that i put one popup window in my home page and one popup in another page.the home page dropped from PR5 to PR4 The other still holds its PR of 4 . Also i changed my Link exchange campaign . What i have done is this : I took 2 pages that had PR4 and i made the first a selection page for to choose a category of links and the second one the showing results page for the category of links previously choosed . The two pages dropped from PR4 to PR3 . Which of the 2 drop my site from 5 --> to 4?
Any help appreciated .

Hi vfilip, welcome to WebmasterWorld!

I noticed today that google has deep crawled a number of my sites and I too noticed some strange things including some sites dropping to PR4 and others jumping to PR5.

Normally I know what will happen on a deep crawl but for the first time this one surprised me on a couple of sites because my link exchanging method hasn't changed in months and nor has the PR.

I'd advise not to worry for the moment and wait for the next deep crawl and I'm pretty certain you'll raise your PR again.

If I've noticed strange things then chances are the sites you've exchanged links may also have had an affect by this and it's causing a ripple affect throughout the net. Let it settle down and see what happens then.

Just one other thing. PR isn't all that it's cracked up to be. One of the sites that dropped PR has jumped from number 5 to number 1 on google for an excellent phrase. On another site I have if you type in a very well known brand name my site comes up number 1 (site is a PR3) beating the PR8 the brand name has. As long as you have some PR I don't think it matters as much as most people think.

Simon.
