Reciprocal links - straight to sub page?

I am working on my reciprocal link strategy. I have been successful in getting lots of similar organizations to link to me. Question is - should I link to their home page or straight to the page that they have a link to me?

As a rule of thumb you should link back to either the page thay have requested or the page your site guests will think the most rewarding. Remember the link is for your guests!

If the site you're linking to requested to have your link point to something specific on their site then follow that guideline.

If there is no specific request link to what best helps your visitors.
