Hi,

I was hired to manage links exchange program for 8 sites belonging to the same client. All sites are hosted with the same web host.

As all sites deal with the same topic, the links directory is identical, same categories, same links, same descriptions.

I'm looking for software - ASP or ASPNET, microsoft sequel server - that would allow me to ADD, EDIT, and DELETE links on ALL sites at the same time.

Presently I have to do the same changes/additions/deletions for EACH of the sites AND IT DRIVE ME CRAZY!

Please, point me to the right product.

Liana, I would strongly recommend to make those link directories as different as possible. Better yet get rid of them altogether and put the links into different pages, best embedded in text.

Liana, if you are only taking in to consideration that Google is watching for duplicate content, then its wise to alter each of the link directories. Plus, in my idea its better or more safe to do most of the linkdevelopment by hand. All the automatic, large quantity and not much time are keywords which might work against you in the long run.

Linkdevelopment takes time & efforts to reach the goal, the automatic way isn't automatically the key to success.

Thanks for advice... I do appreciate it.

:)

I'm still waiting for someone to tip me in the right direction.

Is there software that will allow me to UPLOAD/ADD/EDIT/DELETE links for 8 sites simultaneously.

Liana, we don't do software recommendations. Apart from that I'd seriously recommend to not do linkage automatically.

liana, you've got a red flag situation right off the bat going in the gate:

I was hired to manage links exchange program for 8 sites belonging to the same client. All sites are hosted with the same web host.

As all sites deal with the same topic, the links directory is identical, same categories, same links, same descriptions.

If you were hired to do that job you more than likely didn't take some important factors into account and probably under-bid the job.

Being hired to do the job, you definitely don't want it to come back and bite you - and with how you've described it, it's not at all unlikely that it could easily happen.

You've already been given some very sound advice. Listen to it, bite the bullet and do it right, and adjust your pricing accordingly in the future.

There are some very simple content managements systems out there that use the regular site template and are pretty undistinguishable from the rest of the site, except that once it's all set up updating any pages is much simplified.

The site Nick pointed out is a good place to start looking, and a lot out there are open source so you can do a search until you find one that's simple enough to meet the need for the required function without a lot of extras - and without telltale signs.

Another thing to think about is that if they're owned by the same party and on the same hosting, be very careful about cross-linking among those sites as well as having their links as unique as possible.

I also strongly recommend NOT using any softwares. Stay away from them.

I do work for some clients of mine, and they always try to discuss some popular link building softwares. Always tell them teh pros and cons and do manual link building.

To be honest, I would find it very cool to have some scripts available that build me a complete directory from sites descriptions (in XML?) and templates. And, maybe even a bot checking for reciprocals from that XML base.

Wouldn't that be cool?

What you then do with it is an entirely different matter :)

I'v checked hotscripts.com. All their scripts offer links management for one site only. What I need is a management of multiple sites. Yes, I know of arelis, zeus and linksmanager.com . All of them fail to meet the set requirements.

you could do this rather easily in PHP with an include statement that pulls in a set of files (in this case your link directory), swaps out the header and footer and puts in the right template, and then displays the content.

Again, this is a terrible idea, but it could be done.

Why not just link every site to the same link directory?

This would (theoretically) boost the PR of your link directory because you've now got 5 sites linking to the same directory, which would make link exchanges more attractive.

I'd rather have one link from a PR5 page than 5 links from a PR1 page.

Liana, assuming there was a solution. How much would you spend?

Just curious :)

If you want to be safe, do all the stuff manually and use the basic management system to add links on teh HTML pages.

It's not against Google's Guidelines to build your links pages from a script (can't be detected anyway).

It's not against the Guidelines to check reciprocal links automatically.

It may be against the Guidelines to whack out emails automatically.

dirkz,

I'd pay a reasonable fee for a program that will do everything I need.

Send me an email if you have a proposal.
