Can cross-linking hurt my PR?

Hi,

Some people opine that crosslinking websites with similar content may hurt your PR. I have two cross-linked TLD's which are optimized for my two major keywords. The web design of the pages is basically the same, the company name and product line are the same, but the domain name, title, description and body text of the websites are different (the overall similarity of the two sites is 58%). Am I likely to get penalized for such behavior? Thanks in advance.

Might also depend on the number of links between the sites(e.g. a link on the footer of every page, or just a link on the home page and the links page), the number of inbound links from other sites, other SEO-tricks used on your sites that could cause a manual check/spam report, etc.

Hi,

When you say the number of inbound links, are you saying too many = spam?

Thanks.

For now as long as they are on differnt IP's it seems to work. I could give you a big list of sites that crosslink and do well.
