How much value does having one link on a PR7 home page as compared to having that PR7 home page and 500 internal PR6 links on that same domain. Does it make a big difference or is one link per domain all that really matters?

It used to help ALOT to have alink on every page of the same domain.
However, once Google caught on to the fact that people were buying these types of links, it seems to have been discounted significantly.
Many links from unique domains seems to be the secret sauce now.

I have heard the same comments - Many links from the same domain doesnīt boost your ranking that much anymore. It could also be considered spam if you crosslink sites (links on every page between sites). Dontīt know the exact truth about that...
I just added a link from every page of one of my sites to one of my other sites. The links to that domain increased (with about 30 incoming links), but at least I couldnīt see any big difference in ranking.

I would concentrate on what the link is as much or more than on which page it is.
e.g.: Pr3 page often can beat pr6 if you follow that rule.

Thatīs true, but the question was more about the benefits of having the link to ones web site on many pages from another web site or just from one page (index).
