1 PR7 or PR8 link = 10-300 backlinks?

(received from a link development company)

Got this from a link development company I enquired to who are selling PR7 and PR8 links.

They say that they "have seen our clients pick up anywhere from 10-300 back links from the purchase of one of our links".

Can anyone explain how this works? Surely 1 link is 1 link?

Out of curiousity, what are people charging for a PR8 link?

Here's what they were offering:

**Link Popularity Building Pricing:

Inbound links from every page of a Page Rank 7 website: $200.00/month.
Inbound links from every page of a Page Rank 8 website: $300.00/month.

**Specials:

Inbound links from every page of TWO PageRank7 websites: $300.00/month
Inbound links from every page of TWO PageRank8 websites: $550.00/month

I wonder if that's with anchor text?

I also wonder with a suitable "donor" information site already with a reasonable amount of existing anchor text inbounds, if ROI is possible from something like that using AdSense on the donor site.

What is the topic of the proposed PR7 and PR8 linkor sites and how many other links are already on the pages?

Yes

Precisely what I was wondering :)

Various topics as far as I can tell. So any link would probably not be on topic to the "donor" site. They give a couple of examples of which one is a pr8 SEO site and the links are shown as client successes.

TJ I can sticky you the whole email if you like?

A link's a link but if it comes from a high PR site it carries power with it, and association into the right neighborhooods.

Yes thanks - I'd be interested. Also the URL's of the linkor sites if poss.

It carries power and beneficial association, but the real question is does it offer ROI.

It depends how you are measuring ROI.

I am seeing prices trend downward as more sites are beginning to offer link advertisements. If possible, by direct from the webmaster to avoid middleman charges and link network risks.

Not sure I follow you there agerheart?

If someone were to spend $500 on a link advertisement, I would consider that they would want it to produce more than $500 of profit, directly or indirectly?

Or maybe I'm missing something?

Are you measuring ROI in terms of PR, conversions, advances in link pop, etc.? Many ways to define if it was a success.

Many ways to define if it was a success.

OK I'm with you.

Personally I only consider a financial outlay a success if it brings financial reward in some way, indirectly or directly.

So I guess I consider ROI to be a profit return on my investment. That can come in many ways, but it has to come, otherwise I don't consider it money well spent.
