With a lot of forum topics I was inspired to raise this topic to research and know what people have in mind about the methodology of people as far as Link Building is concerned!

I harvested Viagra website owners, Doctors, Authors, Writer, Webmasters, Real Estate Agents, Advocates/Lawyers, etc for some of my clients. I just harvested the email, the website url from where they were extracted and the website title and I sold them to some of my clients.

I have a list of 900,000 website owners but I never ever thought of spamming them. Coz If I receive a spam, it will be in my trash in 1 sec.

It may have worked well for them....I had to do this coz this is my business..providing services but I never SPAM for myself. not even for the services I offer.

Should I do this or should I not? I am not interested though but just looking to know is anybody out there tried this? Maybe if it seems to work well, I will start to offer those databases to my clients who can run those campaigns themselves and just pay me for my databases.

Should I do this or should I not?

You are in the clear as far as I know. The final decision should be yours.

There are people out there who buy such databases. If it works for them good. :)

Nakulgoyal, I'd say there's a fair amount of risk with this approach - it sounds like the crudest Zeus spam, only with the potential for higher volume. We just heard from a member who got zapped by his ISP/web host for sending out a mere 250 link requests.

By definition, a link request must tie back to a specific URL. Hence, it would be easy to tag the target domain as a spammer. I suppose you could require personal contact before disclosing the URL, but that would almost certainly cut down on the response rate.

I don't think this is a good practice at all. People are very much against SPAM these days, as it is increasing day by day.
