Google Brazil and Orkut - the Saga Continues.

Following on from this thread [webmasterworld.com], the Wall Stree Journal reports in this article [online.wsj.com] that ths situation has escalated from one of Fine to one of Criminal Charges.

The head of Google's Brazilian operation is facing criminal contempt charges for refusing to turn Orkut users' data over to police.

Also, the "fines" situation is stepping up a notch as well.

next month there is a hearing in a case brought by a São Paulo prosecutor threatening daily fines of $100,000 or the shuttering of Google's Brazil office.

One wonder how far this will go before a resolution is reached.
