can't get google to index a spanish page

need help getting a spanish page indexed

I have a simple site in english and spanish, both with their own index page, but Google will not index the spanish page. I have multilingual sites before and good results in all languages. The spanish page gets hits only because of google and yahoo search advertising.

Any ideas?

How are the sites different? Are they on their own domain?

The spanish and english pages are on the same domain, each with their own index page. Pictures are the same, but all tags, descriptions, text etc is different.

When I submitted sitemaps to Google, the next day the spanish page was indexed.
