Which volume for keywords?

I would like to know your opinion about which volume is better for keywords? Low volume? Medium volume? High volume?

I started a new website and I am choosing keywords with around 100 to 300 searches per month.

Do you mean that first you choose a keyword? then you find out what to write about it?

By the way, I assume that the higher the volume of search is, the higher the number of web sites cover this subject, and so the lower is your change to succeed to rank high.

Yeah! Do you think it's a good idea to start with low-volume keywords in my articles? Like for example, keywords with 10 to 50 monthly searches. I think these words are easier to classify in the first results of the search engine, but I do not know if the long tail keywords are still working today. Too, I don´t know if it's a good strategy to a new domain or not.

So, I would like to know more opinions about following a long tail keyword strategy in 2018 and if it is an effective strategy according to you.

Writing to keywords? Will be interesting to see how that works.

Sites that a generally successful have a reason to exist, topic, theme, data ... usually something that has a passion, or at least a business reason, to exist.

Do the keywords in the OP have any relation to each other, or just happen to be keywords to be targeted?

We look at lower volume keywords, but only those relevant to our business.

And in any case many of the higher volume keywords are less relevant, less tightly defined as our focus.

I am suggesting you to go for low search volume with long tail keywords to get rank in short period of time. Because most of the high search volume keywords are broad match keywords and it's very hard to get rank to those keywords.

If you are working on the startup website, choose low and medium volume keywords that are relevant to your business. Low volume keyword is easy to index on SERP and high volume keyword is very difficult to get rank.

To rank keywords for a new website, you'll have to choose keywords very rightly and perfectly. High search volume but low competition is expected but you won't find such keywords. Therefore, you should choose low search volume and low competition keywords to rank within a few months.

Play the game, of course! Just know it is CONTENT and RELEVANCE that is more important these days.

I would suggest you shift your initial focus from keywords to search intent. What is a person who is search what you have to offer really looking for? Then, work on delivering that. Sure, picking the right focus keyword matters too but it's more important that you first understand your audience and what they need.
