Browsing with Javascript off is such a breath of fresh air

I spent 2 hours on a train this morning surfing the net with my blackberry on a surprisingly stable railroad net connection. Javascript is disabled on my blackberry and I have to say it was SOOOO nice not to get bombarded with popups and stuff like...

etc...etc. I ran in to NONE of those and I noticed it! The fight to gain social media stardom is turning the net into a gadgets and gizmos on every site mess.

Of course I didn't see any advertising or adsense either but I'm not complaining. Try it sometime, you'll see what you're missing!

I've been using the NoScript plugin and the AdBlockPlus plugin for ages - for the same reason (on Firefox).

I've also been using NoScript and AdBlockPlus for ages with Firefox. I've managed to convert a number of friends to the same approach, and they soon see the advantage. For a start, no Flash trying to give you a migraine headache. And no js tracking cookies, or hijackers, spyware, malware, etc. I really don't understand why people leave themselves wide open by letting every site run scripts.

I run no js on my own website, of course. When we post videos, it's in wmv, or mpg. If it's going online, we're making it available for everyone to copy, and glad to do so. I hate Flash with a passion.
