IE6 blocks "active content" when page loads from hard-drive

Hi all!

This might be a XP/IE issue, so excuse me if I'm posting to the wrong forum. I upgraded to XP sp1 and all of a sudden IE is much more conserned about my security.

I have a page containing a few simple scripts to load random images and text-snippets from a list of pre-defined values. This works A-OK when I load the page from the web-server.

However, if I load the page from the hard-drive (using the preview feature of Dreamweaver), the scripts are blocked. It's more of an annoyance than a real problem, but is there a way to add my C: drive to the "Trusted sites" or some other setting I can change to keep IE from warning me about my own scripts EVERY SINGLE TIME?

Thanks!

peace,

Hi there airwhale,

if you wish to remove the warning altogether....

1. open IE
2. click 'Tools'
3. click 'Internet Options'
4. click 'Advanced'
5. scroll down to 'Security'
6. check 'Allow active content to run in files on My Computer'
7. click 'Apply'
8. click 'OK'
9. have a beer ;)

This can be done without "lowering your guard" for other pages.

Here's an earlier thread on the topic:

Perfect - that did the trick!

I have not been using IE for several years, so I hardly find my way around it anymore. I only use it for compability checks and for those pesky sites that state "we currently only support Internet Explorer".

Thanks a lot!
