Layer over a page

popup layer over a page while the rest of the page becomes gray

Hello,

do you mind helping me with this:

i am new in web developping.

I have a static website (the old html thing;) and i have a photo gallery made with flash i want it to popup over the page when people click on the link, then the rest of the page becomes gray. Just like what you can see in google document when you open a document for example.
