I am wondering if this can be done with JavaScript. When working on a computer at an office I would want to be notified if I have new email in my inbox. Patients send email to schedule an appointment and I would want to know right away if an email came in.

What I want is a small pop-up box to come up from the bottom right corner of the screen saying "You've got mail." I don't know if my email has to be open for this to work. (I want it to be kind of like the box that comes up saying your download is complete).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

switch to firefox ..then open a gmail account to receive your mail then install "Gmail Manager" this works very well ..if you are willing to handle your emails via google and you and your recipients can put up with the ads ..

or you could code your own app ..or open your usuall email client and just turn on audio notification of new mail ..or hack it to make the box appear ..all depends on what you are using for a mail client ..some of them may already even have such things amongst their bells and whistles?

Thanks for clearing it up for me. I don't know if I'll be coding my own app but just wondering if you know if there are codes out there pre-made for this, and where I could find one.

Thanks,
