Dreamweaver "Code & Design View" as default?

In an earlier version of DW (I think it was 4.0) I managed to get DW to open all HTML-documents in "Design & Code View" per default.

Now I use v6.0, and I can't find a way to set the default to "Design & Code". I'm really desperate - can anyone help me?

(to make it clear: I mean the "split screen" where the code is on top and the design underneath)

Thanx, Michael

Mine behaves as you'd expect.

Have you tried deleting the preferences file and relaunching it, then setting up the workspace as you want? I really can't think of what else might cause this behaviour. There's always the Macromedia support forums if it's a truly knotty problem like this, where yours isn't behaving the way it should.

I just set the workspace to the split screen and closed the program to delete the preferences file.

But I tried once more, just opened the program without deleting anything - and now it works!

Don't know what the problem was, I've tried this several times before...

It must somehow depend on your posting, many thanks ;)

from what i've experienced, the mode you close the last document in will be the mode the next one opens in. so if you switch to code & design view, close the document, close DW...the next time you open a DW document it will open in code & design view.

What you say is not correct with my version - it seems to be a difference between if you first close the document and then the program (as you wrote) or if you close DW with a document open the way you want it to be (split screen). In this case it should work.

As mentioned above, the behavior may be different with my version...

i guess it could be different like you say, i tested it on a PC using DWMX and DWMX2k4 and on a Mac using DWMX2K4.
