Myself its Dreamweaver 4 plus a little of notepad, or is it the other way around notepad plus a little of dreamweaver.. yeah thats more like it. :)

FP to hold the skeleton of the site, used to verify hyperlinks, edit plain html pages and mass edit/replaces to use the supposedly more "evolved" code to replace the older stuff.
Notepad is always lingering, while I am using arachnophilia more for playing around with PHP.
Using IIS to play around with PHP, mySQL, Access <>ASP.....through frontpage for anything ASP, while learning the PHP bottom up.
I am yet to find my divine "production line" method of design before I say I have a "weapon" for design. Anything that can search/replace old code is a must, while the nice color layout of arachnophilia is pretty nifty for the layout of the code I am unfamiliar with.
I am beginning to think that in the end, notepad will win hands down...with a search/replace tool to work in tandem :)

For one thing, tags (HTML, ASP, CFML, SQL, JSP, and other libraries you can plug in) are checked in real time. For another, the formatting of your code is preserved; even on its most code-friendly settings, DW always seems to insert extra spaces and tabs in all the wrong spaces.
Not that I am a coder or programmer, but I learned HTML on Wordpad. When designing a static site, usually I use Visio (at work) or Treepad (at home) when architecting a new site; I design the basic look and feel in Freehand and generate the actual graphic components in Photoshop (before I could afford Photoshop, I used Paintshop). Then to Dreamweaver to create the basic HTML framework and insert the graphic elements before fine-tuning the template in Homesite.

BTW I use dreamweaver 4.0 (tweak for XHTML and mostly on CODE VIEW) Fireworks for simple graphics, and the browsers IE 5.0, Opera 6, and Mozilla 1.0, to test the pages and NotePad as well. =)
I have been wondering that for a while now, just been doing the the long way via notepad. Should make thing much easier. :)
The (Mac version) I last purchased came with BBEdit. Wordpad is at best a pony compared to this workhorse.
Using WYSIWYG editors is a no brainer for most jobs, as long some user knows what is happening backstage in the code...
I know that for PHP,HTML,MYSQL,XHTML you need to swap around alot but surely Macromedia, Micro$oft could make a killing if they could put together a more complete package
I am suprised that no one has mentioned .NET yet, I never have thought of using it so I dont know what its like, but the noise that M$ made about it I thought it would have been mentioned by now!

Want to learn css and absolute positioning? I learned from IR. There is an option to export your sliced graphics as css, does a wonderful job!
With those four tools, I can effectively manage over 30+ websites on a regular basis.
And, I'm a devout supporter of FrontPage. The program is very powerful if you know how to use it properly and as stated above, know whats going on behind the scenes.
