Hi,

I generally use dreamweaver for web page development. I have a site, now i got the new layout for that site. I would like to replicate the old content in the new layout with the new css and all that. Can Any body suggest how to do it fast through dreamweaver. Site is approx 700 pages. I know find & replace very well but confused it this.

find and replace will only work with very clear lumps of code across the site. Be very carefull or you will make a mess :-)

Another option is to cut and paste the content into new template pages and save as the new/old filename.

Its unlikely imho you will find a very quick way for a 700 page site.

Try setting up a template in dreamweaver with only one editable area. Then ATTACH that template to several pages to get a feel for how you do this. You will probably need to cut and paste the title.

Probably about 7 or 8 keystrokes to do the whole process. Then, record a macro of those keystrokes and start running it. Should help a lot, and eliminate highlighting text, cutting and pasting, etc. If the old site was in a template, it's much easier.

I just did a site with about 80 pages this way and it wasn't too bad.
