Frontpage or dreamweaver?

I'm about to embark upon the task of building a website. I'm trying to figure out which woul be better to use Frontpage or Dreamweaver.

It would be really helpful if people could give me some specific pro's and con's of each. As well as suggesting any other progran which people think might be even better than the two mentioned above.

Finally what do people think about buying templates? And then doing some more editing in FP or dreamweaver?

I personally learned HTML with DW as FrontPage had a pretty bad rap at the time... but I only hand code these days. Either will get you to a stage where you will no longer need the GUI interface.

I'm a GoLive user... not as popular as Dreamweaver, but every bit as good. GoLive has excellent site management tools, and if you are using Photoshop & ImageReady for your graphics you will love the way you can plug those into your GoLive site.

I have to agree with keeper. The amount of redundant code created by DW and FP is amazing. However, for learning how to make websites they are both excellent tools. But make it a point to look at the code window when you perform a graphical action. That will show you what goes on underneath. And in time you will learn that you can remove A LOT of the code that either program produced and not only have the same result, but a much faster loading page.

I started out using FP which I recommend for the purpose decribed above. It is somewhat easier to use than DW.

Anyone used nvu? (free, built largely upon old mozilla composer, aspires to be like DW). I played around with it for a few minutes but don't really know a thing about these wysiwyg editors so can't say anything of pertinence. It would be fun to try doing the point 'n click thing once in a while instead of hand-coding.
