Can search engines index text within FP2002 shared borders?

Hello all. I manage a large website (close to 200 pages and growing)and shared borders are an extreme time saver, as the owner likes to change things frequently.

My question is: the top shared border contains graphics and nav links. Owner wants to put some rich text up there as well which will appear on all pages, specifically for indexing.

Will search engines index this important text, as the borders are really separate entities with their own pages, right? Doesn't indexing start at the top of the page? Top of page (border)is all graphics with alt text plus the nav links are in text.

Thank you - I don't want to have to change every single page if I don't have to!

Welcome to WebmasterWorld Cape_Cyn.

Shared borders in FP are problematic. They generate some bulky code and are a hassle to manage. You'll get a lot more manageability out of FP's Include Page [webmasterworld.com] than the shared borders. You can then dictate what is included. The shared borders can use proprietary code in older versions of FP. I know that some of the older versions actually used Java for rollover buttons. That was not something the SEs could index. I abandoned shared borders in FP97, so I'm not sure what they do now.
