Broken Absolute Image Links In Dreamweaver

Hi everybody,

At the Pub conference in Florida, Cane really convinced me on giving Dreamweaver a try. So I've bought the whole studio and am pretty impressed. There's a lot of cool stuff. Thanks Cane!

There is one thing that's been causing me a bit of trouble and I thought you all might have some insight.

When I'm working on a client's site I often just make all hyperlinks, image links and script links absolute to their server, like: <img src="http://www.clientsite.com/picture.jpg">

The problem with that is, Dreamweaver won't display those images.

I don't always have access to the client's site via ftp, so I can't easily download the entire site. The absolute link path has always been an easy way around that while editing the site.

But seeing the image broken all the time is kind of annoying.

Do any of you have any work arounds for this? I think if I could get past this problem I would leave FP in the dust.

Thanks!

One thought might be to use httrack to get the site and then import it into DW ..?
