Can Dreamweaver FTP in ASCII mode?

I'm using a .txt file as an email autoresponder on a unix server. Line breaks in the text file are not retained. The host I use say I should not upload in binary mode, plain text files should be uploaded in ASCII.

Anyone know how to do this with Dreamweaver?
Or is there another way of retaining line breaks in a text file?

Dreamweaver itself, certainly v.4, does not allow for manual selection of ascii or binary, as the format. This would suggest that it is using an auto-detect. But for the problem of concern, i don't know of anyway to force DW to do this.

kapow - is there any reason you have to use Dreamweaver for FTP? Is this a file that is constantly being modified and uploaded and you want the convenience of design/ftp?

From the Dreamweaver web site:

Dreamweaver 2.0 transfers files in binary mode by default, but there is a limited workaround that provides for the transfer of files in ASCII mode. Dreamweaver 3 transfers files in ASCII or binary mode automatically, depending on the file type. However, in Dreamweaver 3, the default transfer mode can be set to a different mode by editing a file in the Configuration folder.

good shout Mardi,

i personally don't like the sync ftp in DW, i've always been a little partial to using WS to do the FTP stuff. basically check without aligning info, hence i work on once-was-live sites, but sync would completely destroy the site, so i have to stay offline, and move files, one / x-amount, at a time, whereas dw makes global link changes that you can't see sometimes.
