Macromedia Studio MX 2004

Upgrading - Are Studio MX files overwritten?

Have purchased MX Studio 2004 but not installed yet. Wondering if existing files are overwritten or does 2004 install as a separate program ie will Studio MX still be available unless I delete it? . This as I don't want to lose my own created code snippets/commands etc and wish to copy them across after MX 2004 is installed.

I do understand that my created sites are not affected.

Should I copy all my own additions before installing MS Studio 2004?

Will I need my Studio MX (Not the new MX Studio 2004) serial number during the installation process?

Have tried putting this question direct to Macromedia, but they don't seem to understand my question as their answers don't help. Find it very strange that after spending about £300:00 (I'm in the U.K.) on an upgrade - there's no installation instructions or guidance in the box - just the CD.

Be grateful for any guidance here. Thanks.

It installs into a different folder by default. Picked up all old MX sites automatically. I use them both without a problem.

Thanks Skipfactor, this helps a lot - why on earth Macromedia don't tell you this is beyond me - seems basic to me, especially when it costs so much ( It's worth it mind you)

Would be nice if that other Giant software company would see the advantage in allowing users to decide when to let the old version go.
