Hi

I am using frontpage 2000.
I want to create a new site using frontpage...the site structure ie, the pages of the site will have the same layout - navigation bar on the top and the left.

So i figured that i should use templates so that the whole process becomes easier and faster....
Now my problem is - I dont know how to use templates in fp:(

What is the process i should follow.....do i need to create the main page and then set editable regions for main content.......

I am totally lost as to how i should proceed...anyone who has been in my position and who neer felt like this..please help out...i have a certain timeframe and i need to learn this asap....

thanks

Open a blank page. Make the template. Save it as a dynamic web template. like a .dwt instead of .htm attach the dynamic web template to anypage needing it. For the content. You'll have to add a editable region.

I started out on FP2002. I think FP 2003 is well worth the upgrade. Plenty of good features.

This is straight from the FrontPage help topic:

In Page view, open the page you want to save as a shared template, and then click Save As on the File menu.
In the Save as type box, click FrontPage Template (*.tem).
In the File name box, type a file name for the template, and then click Save.
In the Save As Template dialog box, type a friendly title for the template in the Title box. This is the title displayed in the list of templates on the tabs of the New dialog box.
In the Description box, type text describing what the template does. This is the text displayed in the Description area of the tabs in the New dialog box.
Select the Save template in current web check box.
