Editing text within a layer in Dreamweaver MX

I'm working on a site with Dreamweaver MX which is new to me. With Dreamweaver 3, it was easy to create a layer and then type text within it, but for some reason MX doesnt seem to like this.

I'm finding that I can type text into it but am having trouble selecting and editing it, eg, when I arrow back one character, it takes me back one word?

Any help appreciated

Stephen

Stephen,

sorry for the late reply. Can't say i have ever experienced it or have any knowledge of a problem like this.

Quirky to say the least - though sounds more like a problem coming from your OS, rather than MX.

Thanks Caine

I'll just have to find a work around or maybe reinstall it

Hi

It must be your set up, I am a big user of Layers in DWMX and I can honestly say I have never had a problem editing text in a layer.

Try reinstalling it.

Karl :)

One point where there might be problems comes when using CSS-P, when the DW visual window tends to cut off the left side of divs with a negative margin (such as left : 50%; margin-left : -390px;).

Code view is your friend - the only problem I find with that solution is forgetting to hardcode accents, cedillas, etc (but then a run through the DW xhtml validation picks that up).

Have you tried temporarily hiding the layers you're not working on? In other words, just having an open eye icon on the layer you want to edit?
