I've been looking for a decent web based, open source, css supporting WYSIWYG editor to embed in online apps. There are a lot of great Java based (which is fine) editors that cost hundreds of dollars per site (which isn't). The only editors I've found that seem close to what I want are:
[joshdura.com...]
[hexidec.com...]

Anyone know of others?

ISTR this coming up fairly recently on cms-list. I don't have any threads to hand, but searchable archives are available at cms-list.org HTH

Just come up again on the cms-list, with two useful links:

I have tried both htmlArea and FCKEditor.

I like the FCKEditor, but it is not cross-browser compatible(yet - watch for it in version 2.0)

I have decided to use the htmlArea product just because it has the Mozilla compatability I am looking for.

I spent a lot of time looking into this, and found these to be the best for my needs. I have heard other great thigs about some Zope editors, but I am not running Zope for this particular application. (Although I do use Zope for other things)

If anyone knows of any more comparable editors I would be glad to hear about them!
