I have a client using Front Page but not very good at it, I use DW. Can someone tell me how to do the following in Front Page (so I can tell my client).

1. Recognise and edit php pages (she only needs to change html text not the php code).

2. Edit the title tag.

Try this ::

Tools >> Options >> Configure Editors >>

Select file extension (in your case, .php or php3.. etc)

and make FP the editor.

She should be able to view the code of page and edit the title from there.. :)

** edit **
If she is using the latest version of FP, the she should also be able to edit php in design view... so do let her know about this..

Hope this helps.

Hi

There's a handy plug-in that allows you to "see" PHP pages in FP Preview mode, it's called PHP Rocket.

NS - when you say the latest version of Frontpage, are you referring to FP 2003 out next month? Does that have full support for PHP?

Cheers

Thankyou :)

I'll send her somthing like this:

EDIT PHP
1.) Open FrontPage >> Tools >> Options >> Configure Editors >>
2.) Select file extension (.php)
3.) make FP the editor.

How about how to edit a title tag (on any page).

kapow, I'm not so certain that the FP editor is capable of handling php. ectect posted the solution, PHP Rocket. It is an add-in for FP that allows you to edit php files within the FP editing environment. Without that plugin, I don't believe FP's standard editing interface is going to work.

To edit the title element in FP, while in Normal View, right click anywhere on the page and select Page Properties. You'll see the title element field in the dialog box.

I'm not so certain that the FP editor is capable of handling php.

She doesn't need to edit the php code. Its a page with a booking form and there is a short php script at the top of the page.

She only needs to edit ordinary html items on the page e.g. the footer. Is that possible? I don't know which version of FP she has, lets assume its what ever version was around 9 months ago.

She can do it using FP :)

However, If she just want to edit *little* code.. then she can do it using anything... even Note Pad :)

Irrespective of what editor she is using, she will have to know what changes to make.. :)
