Hello all..

I have been using Crimson Editor (www.crimsoneditor.com(freeware)) as my editor for writing PHP. I have recently moved some of our production systems to a Linux box and I am taking this chance to become more affluent with Linux. Does anyone know of a good PHP editor for Linux? I was spoiled with Crimson Editor b/c of the functions it had but I am willing to settle with something as basic as notepad as long as it has line counters and color codes (so that I can quickly find where the PHP ends and HTML starts).

Thanks for your help.

Have you tried Bluefish [bluefish.openoffice.nl]? It does have both line counters and color coding.

If you find something better, please post it. I'm sure someone else will come along in the future and need a good PHP editor.

I've tried Bluefish but it does not have support for PHP... at least I haven't found an add-on for PHP color coding. I'm not one for "instant code" that gets put into pages like some MS Editors (FrontPage, 1stPage2000, HTMLKit, etc..) I figure with all the coding for PHP and MySQL done on Linux Boxes that someone would have an editor that has support for HTML and PHP on Linux.
